Discover the Art of Alison Philpott
All my life I’ve had an artist’s heart. No matter what was going on in life I have escaped to the solitude and peace of my drawing. Growing up in Northern Ireland, there weren’t any fine artists that I know of in my family history. There is certainly evidence of creativity, from iron mongering to drafting to woodworking and illustration.
I don’t have a studio, but I don’t need one. Curling up in my recliner with a pad of paper, my tools beside me with a good light source is all I need…maybe an audio book in the background!!
One of the attractions for me is that coloured pencils are so portable. Just so easy to pack up and go. While I’m working there are some must haves that are never far away. Besides the pencils, my electric sharpener would probably be the most important, followed by my sanded eraser and my knife for fine highlights.
Coloured pencil is a medium which is still fairly new in the fine art world. It lends itself to highly detailed pieces which appeal to me. I have won several international awards for my work and I’m thrilled that I have work in private collections on 4 continents.
I hope you enjoy browsing through the examples of my coloured pencil work and if you are interested in having your own piece, either purchase through my store or drop me an email for more information.
I hear it all the time... "I thought it was a photo." No! It's a drawing.

Caring for your New Picture
All my art is created using professional grade oil or wax based pencils or graphite. They are sprayed with a UV protective fixative. Like any other piece of art it should be hung away from direct sunlight in order to protect its longevity.
I thoroughly enjoyed working on each and every piece and I hope you will enjoy yours for many years to come.
